In order to give an overall interpretation of Thucydides' conception of the Peloponnesian War the author has recently published an article in this journal on the role of imperialism in Thucydides' work. Here follows the second part of the interpretation: Thucydides' view on Hellas. The argument that Hellas is seen as a united cultural entity disrupted by the Athenian empire rests on an examination of: 1. Thucydides' introduction (1.1); 2. The Archaeology (1.2-1.23); 3. The Corcyrean stasis.
