Det foreliggende bind er det første af elleve egentlige ordbogsbind. Den arnamagnæanske kommissions Ordbog over det norrøne prosasprog / A Dictionary of Old Norse Prose (ONP) udgav i 1989 et registerbind (Ordbog over det norrøne prosasprog : Registre / A Dictionary of Old Norse Prose : Indices), i hvilket der findes en generel beskrivelse af projektet, hvortil læseren henvises. Nærværende bind ledsages af et særskilt hæfte (ONP 1 : Nøgle / ONP 1 : Key), som indeholder brugervejledning, bibliografi, liste over forkortelser og symboler, samt rettelser til registerbindet.

This is the first of eleven volumes containing dictionary entries. The Arnamagnæan Commission's Ordbog over det norrøne prosasprog / A Dictionary af Old Norse Prose (ONP) published a volume of indices in 1989 (Ordbog over det norrøne prosasprog : Registre / A Dictionary of Old Norse Prose : Indices), and the reader is referred to its introduction for a general description of the project. As an accompaniment to the present volume there is a separate booklet (ONP 1 : Nøgle / ONP 1 : Key) containing a users' guide, a bibliography, a list of abbreviations and symbols, and corrections to the volume of indices.
